A documentary on the case of a fugitive couple nabbed in Evansville will start streaming on Netflix this week.
Alabama’s Casey White and Vicky White seized national headlines before their capture in Evansville in 2022. Their story is the subject of “Jailbreak: Love on the Run,” premiering on the streaming service Sept. 25.
The 90-minute documentary includes footage of the Whites’ dramatic capture just off U.S. 41 on May 9, 2022.
In 2022, Casey was a convicted felon serving a 75-year sentence in Alabama’s Lauderdale County jail. Vicky was a jailer who reportedly fell in love with him and helped him escape. The couple was unmarried and unrelated, but had a last name in common.
While multiple law enforcement agencies scanned the country for any sign of them, the couple had been holed up in Motel 41 for a week, eating pizza and plotting their next move. Evansville, Vanderburgh County and federal authorities eventually tracked them to the motel after footage emerged of Casey White standing in the bay of a South Side car wash alongside a truck they’d bought in Tennessee for $6,000.
