Arrest made after a Henderson apartment building was shot at

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A suspect is in custody following a shooting at an apartment building on the 100 block of Letcher Street which struck two units.

Henderson Police have arrested Joseph Bonnell in connection to this investigation after the shooting took place on September 7.

Authorities say two units were struck by bullets from the the roadway. It is said a total of 8 people were inside when this happened but no injuries were reported.

Witnesses say a gold truck left the scene after the shooting. Officers say they located the truck crashed nearby and determined it had been stolen. They say they also found a handgun near the scene and discovered it had been stolen out of Henderson in 2018.

Officers say they located Bonnell near the crash site, however they were not able to positively identify him as a suspect at the time and was released.

Police say they obtained a search warrant of Bonnell’s cell phone, and found video evidence connecting him to the stolen handgun and the stolen vehicle.
