EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The passenger in the deadly crash that killed Evansville sports legend Clint Keown in Crawford County, Illinois is fighting for his life.
Matthew Redd was taken to a hospital in Evansville. First responders say he was not able to be airlifted because of the weather. A close friend of the family says the community is rallying around them.
“Sometimes you have to find the good in the darkness. And seeing the community constantly coming to the hospital and even with the communication with the Keown family, it just has been overwhelming,” says Bryan Bishop, a close friend of Matthew Rdd.
Bishop says the family is overwhelmed with support. The crash happened on Sunday in Illinois. Keown died and was laid to rest today. Redd suffered serious injuries.
“There is no other explanation that Matt is still surviving, other than prayer, and God has got his hand in this. We’ve had some small victories in the past few days, so that is encouraging,” says Bishop.
As Bishop and Redd’s family watch Redd fight in the hospital room, they say they are receiving support and encouragement from outside the hospital walls. Bishop says people, including some complete strangers, are coming out of the woodwork.
