EVANSVILLE – The winner of this year’s West Side Nut Club Fall Festival half pot is set to “make an appearance” at a news conference Tuesday, marking the first time in the half pot’s history that a winner has been publicly identified.
Nut Club publicity chair Brandon McClish made the announcement in a news release Monday morning. In a follow-up to the Courier & Press, he said “the person(s) has notified us that they would like to be in attendance.”
“That is the current plan, yes,” McClish said. “Obviously things can always change.”
The news conference will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Nut Club’s West Franklin Street headquarters.
“… Our 103rd Fall Festival Chair, David Murphy, will share details about our half pot winner,” the release states. “The winner is set to make an appearance, and I encourage all media partners to prepare their questions for the open session following our announcements.”
Whoever the winner or winners are, they are set to become the city’s newest millionaire. The half pot set a record this year, ascending to $2,000,075. Like the name says, the half pot winner will get 50% of that: $1,000,035.
