HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Two men were arrested after allegedly digging into a gravesite at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Evansville Police say they responded to reports of five people digging into a grave on October 8. Evansville Arborist Shawn Dickerson said the five suspects left after he said he was calling the police. On October 9, officers stopped Melvin Sandoval Guerra about the incident
Guerra reportedly told police he worked for a construction company in New Jersey, and was digging at the grave because someone placed a voodoo curse on his boss, Luis Cordon. Police say Guerra was attempting to recover several voodoo related items buried in the cemetery.
Police say they believe Cordon had fallen for a scam. Both Cordon and Guerra said they knew it was wrong to dig in the cemetery.
Both men were arrested on Monday and charged with disturbing human remains or grave markers. They were also both banned from the property.
