Police recover over 10 kilos of synthetic drugs following “high-risk” traffic stop

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Evansville Police arrested two people this week following the search of a home on Taylor Avenue on Wednesday.

Evansville Police say they were informed the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office was applying for a judicially signed search warrant for an address and vehicle in the 1500 block of Taylor Avenue. An affidavit says the search warrant was drafted in reference to an investigation into Corey Fingers, 33.

After the warrant was signed, authorities say a man matching Fingers’ description drove a vehicle to the home and entered with a juvenile. While detectives awaited assistance, the vehicle reportedly left and began traveling at a high rate of speed. Police say Fingers then drove to a daycare on Weinbach to pick up a juvenile.

At this time, police say they were able to perform a “high-risk” traffic stop on the vehicle just south of the Lloyd Expressway. Officers say they gave verbal commands, but Fingers reportedly refused to comply and began to scream out of the window that he knows his rights and that officers were trying to kill him. Officers described hearing the juvenile crying and screaming in the car as they continued to give verbal commands for approximately ten minutes. Officers then made the decision to forcibly remove Fingers from the vehicle to protect the juvenile from any potential harm.
