Evansville man charged with rape says “that’s what she meant”

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — An Evansville man was arrested early Sunday morning after authorities say he raped a woman at a local motel.

Police say the victim’s friend reported 64-year old Gary Higginbotham to the authorities after the incident occurred.

During his interview with police, Higginbotham admitted to the intercourse but when asked if there was verbal consent, he said the victim “never said anything” and thought “that’s what she meant.”

Higginbotham was charged with Rape and is currently booked in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
