Halloween may well be a ‘dark and stormy night’ in the Tri-State. Here’s the forecast.

Sure, the prospect of a dark and stormy night on Halloween is disappointing, but it’s also sort of fitting, right?

The National Weather Service says a “strong” cold front will push through the region on Thursday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms during the morning and afternoon hours.

Still, there’s hope. The forecast discussion from the agency included this line: “Some drying is possible in the evening for outdoor Halloween activities.”

The rain chances, according to forecasters, break down this way on Thursday for Evansville and Henderson:

  • 9 a.m.: 50 percent
  • Noon: 100 percent
  • 3 p.m.: 80 percent
  • 6 p.m.: 70 percent
  • 9 p.m.: 25 percent

Temperatures won’t be an issue, since it’ll feel fairly warm by late October standards. At 3 p.m., forecasters expect the temperature in Evansville to be 72 degrees, falling to 62 degrees by 9 p.m.
