Property tax breaks for Franklin Lofts project in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A $13 million apartment development on Evansville’s west side takes a step toward reality.

The redevelopment commission on Wednesday passed a resolution to possible give the project property tax breaks over 25 years.

It is said a developer wants to turn part of the warehouse at the corner of West Franklin Street and 7th Avenue into the Franklin Lofts.

The proposal calls for 56 units mixed of studio space and 1 to 2 bedrooms.

The next step for this project is a rezoning hearing on Thursday.
