Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says one dead after vehicle crashes into ditch

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says one person has died after a vehicle crashed into a ditch.

Officials say at about 8:45 p.m., Owensboro Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call about the accident in the 4900 block of KY 144 near Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

An initial investigation revealed that a car was going east, passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, hitting the ditch.

Officials say the driver sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office. Officials also say it was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

The road was closed for about two hours to allow officials to reconstruct the scene.

The identity will be released by the coroner’s office at a later time.
