EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting on Jackson Avenue which left one person injured.
Dispatch tell us the call came in at 12:29 p.m. in reference to shots fired in the 600 block of Jackson Avenue.
Sergeant Saltzman with the Evansville Police Department tells us a group of juveniles, plus an 18-year-old, were walking and riding their bikes on Jackson Avenue when a dark colored vehicle approached. He says shots were fired out of the passenger window.
Witnesses say they heard 3 shots were fired, and the 18-year-old was struck once in the leg.
The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Sgt. Saltzman says they believe this was not a random act.
EPD says this investigation is still in its early stages.
