“Reverse Parade” held at Sharon Elementary

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) — On this Veterans Day, communities across the Tri-State are honoring those who served our country.

Celebrations were held in several local cities.

In Newburgh, Sharon Elementary School held its annual “Reverse Parade.”

Veterans drove the school’s parking lot as students held up posters and signs.

“We want to make sure that if we are going to be at school at Veterans Day, that we need to remember why we are all here,” says Kristin Strickland with Sharon Elementary. “We want to let those people know that we just thankful to them for what they’ve done for us and our country and we want to make sure they feel appreciated.”

Veterans Day was officially established after World War II to honor all military veterans who have served our country.
