EVANSVILLE, In (WEHT) – Deaconess Hospital says the number of flu cases is increasing but not as much as in 2023.
The flu virus can have common cold like symptoms, but Dr. Gus Fontenele says both symptoms and the severity can vary.
“You can have fever, muscle aches, nasal congestion sore throat, some people have had headaches, sinus pain, coughing can be like dry cough or like productive cough,” he says.
Fontenele says the numbers have increased since last week, and it’s more important now than ever to be conscious of those who may have a weaker immune system when visiting loved ones over the holidays.
“We should think about the most vulnerable people you know maybe you will have a mile case but when you get infected, you can transmit the infection to other people and it can affect little kids or people have like the weaker immune system especially like people who have like diabetes, lung disease like COPD or asthma. this people is more vulnerable so we have to think about the others too.”
