GIBSON COUNTY In (WEHT) – The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says the fire on New Year’s Eve near Francisco was “not accidental.” and is being labeled as a double homicide.
Officials state on December 31, at 6:24 a.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of a fire in the 7000 block of East State Road 64 near Francisco.
Multiple first responders were able to gain entry where they discovered a person dead but couldn’t go any further due to the fire and heavy smoke.
Officials say Francisco Fire responders discovered that there were two separate fires at the residence and a total of two people dead.
Officials say a detective made attempts to locate 53-year-old Michael R. Kegg who was listed as the owner of the home, according to the Gibson County Assessor’s Office. At 7:57 p.m. on Tuesday, a Be on the Look Out was placed for Kegg requesting if he were to be located, he be stopped and held for questioning.
Officials gave an update at 11:19 a.m. that Kegg had been located, and law enforcement officers are in the process of speaking with him.
