HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A Vanderburgh County fire department has rebranded ahead of a scheduled merger.
As of midnight, Scott Township Fire & EMS has rebranded to become the Vanderburgh County Fire Department.
Officials state the change is part of the upcoming merger with the German Township Fire Department later in the summer to better serve the residents of northwest Vanderburgh County.
“Since being established in 1956, the Scott Township Fire Department (and later Scott Township Fire & EMS) has always maintained a tradition of constantly improving the ways we provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the citizens we serve,” said officials on social media. “The men and women of Vanderburgh County Fire Department are committed to continuing this tradition in 2025 and beyond by improving emergency response times and increasing the resources available for 911 calls throughout the entire Vanderburgh County Fire Territory, which will soon include Scott, Armstrong, & German Townships and the Town of Darmstadt.”
