Warrick County elects first female commissioners

BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The Warrick County Commission met for the first time this year with two new faces.

Sarah Seaton and Stacey Franz are the two newest members of the commission. Seaton represents District One and Franz represents District Three.

“I’ve been an office holder for 12 years and this is a big step un in responsibility I believe,” Seaton said. “I am excited and thankful for the opportunity.”

“We just got sworn in at about 1:15,” Franz said. “That was very exciting to have family and friends here to support us and it’s just an honor.”

The two are the first female elected commissioners in Warrick County’s history.

“That is amazing,” Franz said. “That is really amazing. Just to have that legacy start with us.”

The new faces at the start of the new year also brings opportunity to build that new legacy.

In February, commissioners Terry Phillippe, Dan Saylor, and Robert Johnson were charged with false informing and official misconduct.

Franz said accountability was the foundation of her campaign.
