HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Two people are charged with Burglary after a reporter spotted them attempting to pull their cars out of the victim’s driveway and backyard in Chandler.
Authorities with the Evansville Police Department say the reporter was driving to his mother’s home in the 4900 block of Old Boonville Highway to check on the status after the property had lost power.
Upon arriving, the reporter says he spotted a blue SUV stuck in the driveway and a white Jeep stuck in the backyard. He says there was a red Dodge truck helping pull the vehicles out.
Officers say three individuals, including Madelyn Brewer and Matthew Ingle, were spotted by the reporter who he did not recognize. Ingle allegedly fled on foot after being questioned by the reporter.
The reporter says the back door of the home had been forced open and the inside had been “somewhat ransacked.” He says he spotted items that belonged to his mother in the back of Brewer’s vehicle.
When officers arrived, Brewer was taken into custody along with the driver of the blue SUV, who was found not involved in the burglary.
