HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Some Tri-State residents have been left without power during severe winter weather for days now, and officials say it still may be days before everyone’s power is back online.
CenterPoint Energy crews have been able to restore power to approximately 40,000 customers since the storm caused power outages earlier this week. A release says more than 1,000 personnel are currently mobilized, and as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning, more than 65% of customers have had their power restored.
However, nearly 20,000 customers remain in the dark, and officials say there is still a lot of work to do. Hundreds of workers were called in from out of town to assist with restoration efforts, but officials say with branches and trees continuing to buckle under the weight of the ice, crews are having to go back to the same areas.
