Significant progress made in CenterPoint’s outages in the Tri-State

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — CenterPoint officials have issued a statement regarding the current progress of power restoration in the Tri-State. Over 80% of affected customers have had their power restored, officials confirm.

As previously reported, most Evansville customers were expected have their power restored no later than Friday night.

CenterPoint representatives tell us this timeline has been shifted up by 24 hours. They say restoration should be “substantially complete” by Thursday night.

We’re told over 1,000 crew members were dispatched Wednesday morning to continue working on restoring power for customers and will also be working through the night as well.

Although weather forecasts predict snow on Friday, CenterPoint says this should not be a concern. They note the ice from the previous weekend’s storm is what played a major role in the outage.

Officials continue to urge residents to report any downed power lines and to avoid them as they could still be active.

Eyewitness News will continue to monitor the outages in the Tri-State.
