Vanderburgh Co. Health Dept. provides community update on measles

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – With the current measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico, the Vanderburgh County Health Department is offering health tips to help prevent the spread of measles and protect the community.

According to a press release, measles is a highly contagious respiratory illness spread by contact with an infected person through coughing and sneezing.

They say measles is so contagious that if one person has it, 90 percent of the people close to that person who are not immune or vaccinated will also become infected with the measles virus…
