TSA workers face major union rights blow

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that it will end the collective bargaining agreement with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees.

AFGE Local 618 is a local TSA union. They called this decision an “unprovoked attack” and are ready to fight back, claiming it undermines their rights and retaliates against their challenges to the Trump administration’s policies. Indiana has about 400 Bargaining Unit Employees, who make up the supermajority of the Agency and the screening workforce.

“We want to make sure that 9/11 does not happen again,” said Kevin Smith, president of the AFGE Local 618. “If we are not allowed to exercise our rights, protect our employees, or set them up for success, 9/11 could happen again because of political bureaucracy.”…
