Who Played in Evansville During the Final Year of Concerts At Roberts Stadium?

Many of us have great memories of Roberts Stadium, but do you know what the final concert at the stadium was?

If you’re from the Tri-State, then you know about Roberts Municipal Stadium. The stadium used to stand on Evansville’s East side near Boeke Road and the Lloyd Expressway. Roberts Stadium was demolished in 2013, and the field where it once stood has sat empty ever since.

Ask anyone from the area “do you remember Roberts Stadium?” and instantly they’ll give you a list of the best concerts they saw there, or recount memories of the Evansville Aces playing there. Heck, I learned to drive a car in the Roberts Stadium Parking lot, and I know I’m not the only one who learned to drive there.

I have many fond memories of the stadium, from going to see the Power Rangers there in the early 90s, to my very first concert, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood in 1997. I also was an intern and then on air for our sister station 103 GBF and spent a lot of time enjoying rock shows at Roberts Stadium. My friends and I made a lot of great memories there. When Was Roberts Stadium Torn Down?

I wish I could find the photos I took of the demolition of Roberts Stadium, but I cannot find them anywhere. I remember pulling into the parking lot and taking photos of the building when it was half torn down. It was a sad day, but that place held a lot of memories for many of us in the Tri-State.

According to EVPL, Roberts Stadium was torn down in January of 2013, it’s been just over 12 years now that the area where the stadium once stood has sat empty.
