Warming up with multiple chances for showers and storms next week

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An area of low pressure, sitting over the Gulf States, will spread in patchy higher-level cloud cover through today but ample sunshine is still expected. The area of low pressure to our south will start to creep northward this evening increasing our shower chances overnight. A more active weather pattern returns through next week.

For the rest of the afternoon anticipate mostly sunny skies with temperatures topping out in the upper 70s to low 80s. Clouds will thicken up this evening and showers and a few thunderstorms will start to drift northward, mainly after dinner time. Scattered rain will persist overnight into Monday. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Rain will be more widespread in the predawn hours of Monday before becoming more scattered in the afternoon. Highs will top out in the mid-70s. Lows will drop down into the upper 50s to around 60. Pop-up showers and storms will be possible Tuesday afternoon with highs topping out in the mid to upper 70s. Shower and storm chances wane on Wednesday but I can’t completely rule out an afternoon shower. Temperatures, however, will continue to rise into the lower 80s. The warmest day of the week will be Thursday where highs will top out in the upper 80s…
