Evansville officer perform CPR during medical emergency

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Department commended one of its officers for showing “great control in a chaotic situation” after he successfully performed CPR during a medical emergency.

According to a release, a caller reported to central dispatch on June 16 that there was a man who was “blue in color, not responding, not breathing.” Central dispatch gave instructions to the caller to perform CPR, but the caller reportedly did not feel comfortable providing CPR.

Officials say Officer Staats arrived at the home and began giving chest compressions while communicating calmly with a woman inside the home. Authorities say the man began breathing on his own as crews from the Evansville Fire Department arrived…
