Evansville man sentenced to 4 years for nearly fatal stabbing

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man accused of stabbing a man in the neck last year was sentenced to four years in prison for battery with a deadly weapon.

Authorities say Anthony Kanizar stabbed Christopher Walters with a seven inch blade following an altercation in November. During an interview with police, Kanizar reportedly claimed Walters ran up to his van and began beating on the windows. Kanizar said he swung his knife at Walters, but didn’t know where he hit him.

Kanizar was originally charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, but those charges were dropped. Walters survived the attack, but had to undergo testing for brain or nerve damage…
