HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An elderly victim is out of almost $8,000 after he was threatened by an offender with his social security.
According to an Evansville Police report, officers were called to a gas station on the corner of Newburgh Road and Washington Avenue after the caller said she saw the victim placing multiple $100 bills into a bitcoin machine while on the phone. The victim reportedly told the caller that the guy on the phone told him put the money in the machine.
The victim claimed to officers a male called him at 6:30 a.m. that morning and told him to go to three different banks and pull all his money out and put it into the bitcoin machine at the aforementioned location. The victim also claimed he was told to avoid speaking to any family members or anyone at all until the process was over, and if he did not do what was told, his social security would be taken away…
