Authorities identify man killed in Daviess County shooting

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office confirms that one person has died following a shooting that occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Saint Anthony Road, off U.S. Highway 431.

Authorities investigating after person shot in Daviess County home

According to a preliminary investigation, the victim died shortly after being transported to a local hospital due to a gunshot wound to the chest. Detectives say the victim did not live at the residence and was shot as the homeowner opened the door upon his arrival. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Darrin Ray Carter, attempted to hide the firearm on a neighboring property following the shooting.

Carter now faces charges of 2nd Degree Manslaughter, Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
