HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Foundation announced it lost a horse.
The Evansville Police Foundation says after an extended illness, Scotty the horse passed away on June 29. Scotty joined the Mounted Patrol in the summer of 2019. He was a 16 hand Palomino, quarter horse gelding. He also attended the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police Colloquium each year and helped EPD Mounted Patrol win second place in the team competition in 2023.

Officials say Scotty was a “gentle giant” who served the community with strength, calmness and loyalty. He participated in over 60 community engagements each year. Whether patrolling Evansville events or bringing smiles to children at school visits, he made a lasting impact. Officials say Scotty will be deeply missed.
A spokesperson for the Evansville Police Foundation posted, “Thank you for standing with us in honoring Scotty and supporting those who serve—on two legs and four.”
