Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus in Gibson County

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — The Gibson County Health Department says one pool of mosquitoes in the area tested positive for the West Nile virus.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active. Wearing light-colored clothing, pants, and long sleeves is recommended.

The health department also suggests using insect repellent containing DEET, Picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Products with DEET should not be used on infants under 2 months, and those with oil of lemon eucalyptus should not be used on infants under 3 years…
