HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Two Evansville parents were arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury after authorities say a two-month-old infant was brought to a hospital with several broken ribs.
According to Evansville Police, a two-month-old was taken to a hospital on April 21 for being “gassy” and bleeding from his eyes for several days. X-rays completed at the hospitals revealed the child had sustained 11 rib fractures and other injuries consistent with physical abuse. Officials say the healing of the rib fractures suggest the child sustained the injuries approximately one week before arriving at the hospital.
The parents of the child, Lindsey Davis, 34, and MacQuell Davis Jr., 30, denied knowledge of the fractures, but Lindsey Davis stated that she noticed blood visible in the infant’s eyes approximately one week prior to the hospital visit.
