If you’ve driven down Boeke Road on Evansville’s East side recently, you’ve probably noticed the construction. Here’s what’s going on.
Construction in Evansville
Construction in Evansville is a tale as old as time, and recently there’s been a LOT of it around the city. In fact sometimes I feel like whoever is planning out the construction projects has followed my commute and said “okay Melissa drives this road regularly, so add barrels there too.” I know that’s not the case, but goodness there are a LOT of projects going on at once.
I too, can get frustrated with constantly running into detours and lane closures, but I do try to remind myself that these are growing pains. As Evansville grows and flourishes, work needs to be done. In the end, all of this work will be worth it, but in the meantime its a slight headache to deal with.
Construction on Boeke Road
Recently, I’ve noticed construction on Boeke Road, and couldn’t figure out what they were doing. There are two small places that look like medians, but the placement has me a bit confused. Well, the City of Evansville has let us in on what’s happening, and Boeke will eventually be a three-lane road.
It’s better explained in the video below, but from Virginia Street to Morgan Avenue, Boeke Road is becoming a three-lane roadway with a center turn lane.
The new raised islands are designed to give pedestrians a safer crossing point by making it so drivers cannot pass in the turn lanes in that area.
Have you noticed work starting on Boeke Road? There are some exciting improvements ahead, from traffic flow upgrades to safer pedestrian features…
