Man sentenced to 20 years for stabbing wife in Evansville

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison in relation to the death of his wife.

Court officials say Fenel Germain took a plea deal to a lesser charge, which downgraded his previous murder charges to voluntary manslaughter.

In 2023, Germain was previously charged with murder after police say he stabbed his wife, Nerlande Germain Charles, to death. Police say the incident happened around 3:15 p.m. in August 2023 in the 1600 block of East Michigan Street in Evansville.
