Woman charged with 24 counts of animal neglect in Evansville

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — An Evansville woman was arrested and charged with 24 counts of animal cruelty.

An affidavit obtained by Eyewitness News says officers were sent to a home on East Blackford Avenue to assist with an animal control run. Upon arrival, officers reported an overwhelming smell emanating from the front yard. Police say they found 13 dogs in the front yard, panting from the heat, with no access to clean water. According to police, the dogs were filthy and had matted hair. At least one of the dogs was described as “emaciated.”

Documents go on to say officers met with the homeowner, identified as Ann Maasberg. Officers say Maasberg told them she runs “Ann’s Doodles.” Police say she has not filed to be a breeder in Vanderburgh County…
