EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry says she’s gotten several complaints about road conditions. And implementing a wheel tax would open the door for more state dollars to address it. Mayor Terry says the new tax could go into effect January first if everything goes as planned. But there are some hoops to jump through first.
Mayor Terry plans to present it at Monday’s City Council Meeting and says it is a small price to pay for a big impact.
“We are just responding to what we are hearing,” Terry said. “I know there is no ideal time to out in a new tax but it is the reality. We have to be sure that we have the resources available to offer the best service that we are supposed to render to our community”…
