Adult and juvenile arrested in relation to car break-ins

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) reports an adult and juvenile were arrested in relation to a case involving car break-ins.

On August 7, around 2:14 a.m., deputies responded to a welfare check in the Melody Hills Subdivision, where they located one juvenile and one adult. Deputies report the pair initially fled from law enforcement.

Deputies say during the course of the investigation, deputies discovered two vehicles that had been broken into. Law enforcement officials say, at first, the suspects were not found near the vehicles. Deputies say after a brief search, both individuals were eventually located.

Authorities say the juvenile admitted to the crimes, while the adult, Helkena Langinbelik,18, of Evansville, refused to cooperate. Langinbelik was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail, while the juvenile, whose name is being withheld, was taken to the Youth Care Center (YCC).

Deputies say both suspects face charges of theft, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief. The VCSO is continuing to investigate the incident.
