I-69 bridge project to move forward

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – The Kentucky Public Transportation Infrastructure Authority (KPTIA) announced on Thursday to move forward with the new I-69 bridge project that will connect Henderson, Ky,. and Evansville, Ind.

KPTIA authorized a financial plan for Section 2 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing and approved a resolution to enter into a Bi-State Development Agreement between Kentucky and Indiana for future construction.

“This is a significant milestone for the new I-69 Ohio River Crossing, a key interstate connection that is going to help with the safe and reliable transit of people and goods in Western Kentucky and throughout this part of the country,” said Gov. Andy Beshear. “This bridge is a priority for Team Kentucky and we’re taking these steps to move us closer to breaking ground and making this long-awaited connection a reality.”

The agreement includes terms for the financing, procurement, development, construction and delivery of the new I-69 bridge and Veterans Memorial Parkway (ORX Section 2). Such agreements provide the framework for cooperation between the two states for projects with a shared border…
