Evansville police warn of national food stamp fraud scheme

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Evansville police warn the community about a national food stamp fraud scheme.

According to police, they have seen several cases of fraud over the last year tied to the scam. They say thieves are placing card skimmers on payment terminals in grocery stores, devices that can steal money off the EBT cards.

Police say the best defense is to stay alert by checking card readers for anything unusual and to keep your EBT card locked to prevent thieves from accessing your funds.
