Does Shamala Hamala ring a bell? If you are a loyal follower of Kevin James Thornton, you know exactly what I’m talking about. He’s one of my favorites. This hilarious human was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. Little did he know, the memories he made growing up there would be relatable to folks all over the world.

Nostalgia of Growing Up in the 90s
I remember cackling and singing along when Kevin would post a new video about being raised in an evangelical church or the nostalgia of the 90s. He uses an autotune feature to make songs seemingly on the fly. With catchphrases galore about Olive Garden, “It was the ninetieeees” and yes, “Shamala Hamala.”

Which just so happens to be the name of the art studio and gathering space he now owns in the Over-the-Rhine area of Cincinnati, Ohio.
