HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility Executive Director Vic Kelson discussed their revised plans to renovate the city’s 100-year-old water treatment plant instead of replacing it.
Mayor Terry says instead of building a new water treatment plant, the city can get by with renovating the current water treatment facility it has and instead drilling wells to use ground water as one source of water for the city.
Officials say the revised plan would offer up to $100 million in construction costs and another $100 million in long-term capital and operational savings by avoiding the need for treatment of PFAS at the surface-water plant.
