HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Warrick County officials say they are concerned about a potential breach of the coal refuse dam at AMAX Ayrshire mine.
Officials say if the dam breaks, it would release about 22 million cubic yards of coal waste into Pigeon Creek. the issue was discussed during a drainage board meeting last month, and the board requested data from the state confirming the dam is safe.
