Could We See Snow on Halloween in the Tri-State?

I remember trick-or-treating one Halloween in the snow when I was a kid. It was just a light dusting, but it’s the only time I can recall all the conditions lining up to see those white flakes in the tri-state before late November. The past few years have been really warm. Last year, my husband and I went as Wayne and Garth. He wore a t-shirt, and I had on a flannel shirt. And even during a really chilly Halloween a couple of years ago, we still didn’t get snow.

The Folklore That Sparked My Curiosity

So, imagine my surprise when I saw a Facebook post claiming that snow might be possible around Halloween this year in the tri-state area. Um, I’m sorry. What?

I did a little digging and found what they were referencing is actually weather folklore. The claim goes:

““The first snowfall comes six weeks after the last thunderstorm in September.””

Hmmm, we did have…..
