NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) — A Warrick County family is “overwhelmed” by the outpour of support they’ve seen after losing one of their own — with over $25,000 raised on a GoFundMe page in less than 24 hours.
The Lowery family is experiencing something no family wishes to endure — the loss of a child. Allison Lowery was killed after being struck by a semi on State Road 66 in Newburgh. Stephen Russ, the family’s pastor at FaithWay Baptist Church, paid them a visit the night she died and worked to find ways to honor and remember her.

“Up until the last day of her life, she was bringing joy to her parents, joy to the people around her, joy to her friends at school,” Russ said, describing Lowery. “That’s who she was. She had a brightness about her.”
“Any time a family goes through an unexpected tragedy and such a terrible crisis, it’s always necessary for people to step up,” Russ adds. “I don’t think anyone expected it to get the traction it got immediately. They’re obviously very emotional about the whole situation. But this has been one of the bright spots. “
With funeral costs proving to be a financial burden, Russ created the GoFundMe page and was shocked, along with the Lowery family, when they saw over $25,000 donated in less than 24 hours…
