Appeals court rules in favor of Evansville officers who shot man in 2020

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An appeals court has ruled in favor of two Evansville Police officers who shot and killed a man in 2020.

Indiana Lawyer reports the 7th Circuit Court issued a summary judgement for officers Cory Offerman and John McQuay, agreeing the officers were being threatened with a gun by Rodriquez Pam, and that their actions were “objectively reasonable”.

The shooting happened in the 1100 block of Cherry Street in November of 2020. Authorities say a caller reported that Pam pointed a gun at her and her dog. Officers arriving at the scene shot Pam after he reportedly pointed his weapon at them. He was pronounced dead at the scene…
