Small fire occurs at Mt. Vernon’s CountryMark refinery

MT. VERNON, Ind. (WEHT) – A small fire occurred at Mt. Vernon, Indiana’s CountryMark refinery on October 16.

CountryMark officials say at around 10:45 a.m. on October 16, the CountryMark Mt. Vernon refinery had a unit upset that affected the Diesel Hydrotreater Unit. Officials say all personnel are accounted for with no injuries. According to officials, the incident resulted in a small fire and created visible flames from the refinery flare, which is used for safety purposes.

CountryMark says emergency response crews were on-site and responded immediately. CountryMark says it also benefited from mutual aid response at the refinery, and the unit is secure and the fire is extinguished. Officials note the rest of the refinery was unaffected, as the incident was contained within the refinery with no offsite impacts.
