City has “vision” for safer streets in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville’s Walnut Street Corridor is now open; officials say it’s a perfect example of a new initiative focused on making city streets safer for all users.

The initiative is part of a global non-profit called Vision Zero. Deputy Mayor Lindsay Snyder says the Corridor, with its wider streets and sidewalks, is representative of what future vision zero projects in Evansville will look like.

On its website, Vision Zero says its goal is to provide safe movement for all road users…whether biking, walking, driving or using a wheelchair. Snyder says that’s exactly what the city wants for Evansville residents…
