Evansville impact of federal government shutdown

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — It is day 20 of the federal government shutdown, and a local church and office in Evansville are sharing how they are working to continue to serve their communities.

The federal shutdown started on October 1. Since then, people have questioned what this means for them and their benefits. Simpson’s United Methodist Church Chairman Anthony Lebarron and he encourages people who need help to visit the church pantry.

“Don’t feel embarrassed,” says Lebarron. “That’s the biggest thing I’ve seen over the years is people just feel like, ‘I don’t really need that or maybe I can get by.’ They feel ashamed of coming, and like I said, I’ve been doing this for ten years now, and I’ve seen people that, may need it, may not need it. Not for me to judge.”…
