HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – In response to dogs being reportedly tied up and abandoned in various places throughout the city, Evansville Animal Care and Control (EACC) is starting a pet food pantry.
EACC notes that recently its officers have been responding to dogs left tied up outside on public property — left out in the rain and cold without food, water or any type of shelter. Officials note this is not only heartbreaking to them, but it is also abandonment and against Evansville’s city ordinance.

Officials say they understand that times are tough, but they ask for people to not leave pets like this. EACC says if someone is struggling and needs help with their pets to please reach out. The officers have started a pet food pantry, and there are also other resources in the community such as Paw Street, and the EACC says it has a list of additional programs that may assist.
The EACC says if anyone would like to help support its efforts, to consider donating. People can drop off items at the EACC’s building from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 815 Uhlhorn.
