Henderson woman’s kindness fuels network of warming boxes

HENDERSON, Ky. — What began as one woman leaving snacks for a homeless man with autism has grown into a network of at least seven “warming boxes” across Henderson, offering food, clothing, blankets and hygiene items to anyone in need, with no questions asked.

Taylor Heady, a Henderson mother of three, started the effort in 2023 after repeatedly walking past a man living along the riverbank in a local park.

“I noticed there was a gentleman that was staying down by the riverbank,” Heady said. “He was homeless, and he had autism. I started stopping and talking to him. He didn’t want a whole lot to do with me at first.”…
