14 First Alert Day: Very cold through tonight, warming up this week

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – After quick arctic blast temperatures will warm up above average through the work week. The weather will stay mostly dry until a cold front brings the chance for showers and storms Thursday.

High pressure will keep the weather sunny, dry, and frigid this afternoon. Temperatures will top out in the mid-teens. Wind chill values will range in the single digits above zero throughout the day. Make sure to layer up and cover any and all exposed skin if you’re going to be outside for prolonged periods of time. Temperatures will drop back down into the single digits overnight. Winds will be light overnight so wind chills won’t be much colder than our air temperatures. However, some spots may drop into the single digits below zero for wind chills waking up Monday morning. Outside of a very cold start, temperatures will climb into the lower 30s by the afternoon. With southwesterly gusts up to 20 mph.
