Evansville police say skimmer device suspected in food stamp theft

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — An Evansville woman says she was forced to go to a food bank after someone stole money off of her EBT card.

Patricia Groves-Montgomery awaits assistance at a food bank after she says her EBT information was stolen.

“The food stamps got loaded on my card at midnight on the ninth, and I called and said it was at 198 and I thought I misunderstood,” says Montgomery. “So I hung up and called back, and within two minutes I called back and it was at a zero balance. So they got all my benefits within five minutes.”…
